EMPLOYMENT
In December
1955, after having passed HM Malta Naval Dockyard examination, I
started work in the Naval Dockyard. As I was not a technical man,
I decided to work as a Naval Stores Supply Assistant with the S.N.S.O.
Department. I enjoyed my work there as it took me on several naval
ships.
When I was 23, I decided
to come to England for a 3 months working holiday. I liked it so
much that I am still on that long holiday after 41 years.
At first I worked as
a night receptionist at the Kingsley Hotel in Bloomsbury way. However,
I got fed up working nights and so I went to work in the import
and export department with an electronic firm called Keyswitch Relays.
Then, after reading an advert in the Evening News for staff to work
with the Ministry of Aviation in Air Traffic Services, I applied
and was selected for the job. |
