TRAVELLING

I like going to the U.S.A. and have visited all the Eastern States and also
some of the Western States. I have been to most countries in Western Europe.
I also go to Malta twice a year to visit my relatives and enjoy the
guaranteed sunshine. I have visited Japan three times and I like going
there because I have several Japanese friends and I also like their culture.
In Japan, I have been to the four main islands: Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku and
Hokkaido. In total, I must have covered about 13,000 km on my three visits.
When I go there, I travel by the Super Express Trains (JR Shinkansen) and by
car.

Below you have some information and pictures of some of the places that I visited.

I visited Thailand again this year and I stayed in the village of Ban Phuak .
I also travelled around Nong Khai and Udon Thani were I visited many historical places. Among them Wat Hin Mak Peng, Prap Ho Monument, Phrathat Nong Khai, Wat Phu Thok, Wat Po Chai, Wat Ko Soey Khet, Wat Pa Ban Tat and
many others. I also paid a short visit to Khon Kaen to meet some of my old
friends there. From Udon Thani I flew to Bangkok and were I also spent a few
days. In Bangkok I visited some of the main tourists sights.
Among them the Grand Palace , Wat Arun and Wat Pho. I also went on a
Chao Phraya River tour.

In October I visited Laos twice and enjoyed meeting friends whom I met on my previous trips to this country. I went round several of the temples and other historical places which I missed on my previous trips to this country.
Among them Wat Si Saket, Haw Phra Kaew and Don Chan Palace .
I also met a lot of my old friends and enjoyed tasting some of the delicious
dishes of Laos once again.

From Laos I also flew to Kunming in Yunnan , South China . Kunming is a lovely city and there is so much to do and see. I enjoyed my trips to The Stone Forest, the EXPO99 Gardens and the Yunnan Nationalities Village and
among other places. The people were very helpful and the food was also
very good and tasty. I hope that I will visit Kunming again some time in the
nearest future to see what I missed this time. From here I returned to Vientiane
Airport in Laos and then back to Ban Bhuak, Thailand .
Then I flew to Bangkok from were I returned to London via Mumbai , India .

In May I spent a week visiting Prague and the town of Kutna Hora .
Prague is a lovely city and there is so much to see and do. While I was there I joined two tours and went all over the city. Every place that we visited was of
interest, but most of all was Prague Castle , the Old Royal Palace and the
Great Tower . There are also several nice cathedrals and churches.Click here for a picture slide show
From Prague I travelled to Kutna Hora and which is a town with a long history
which started in 1142. It is also on the UNESCO World Cultural and
Heritage List. I visited the church of St. Barbara , the Bones Museum ,
the Mint of the Italian Court and other places of interest.

I visited Thailand three times between 2008 and 2009 and travelled
from the north to the south of the country. I took lots of photos, but
I am only going to put about 50 on the web. I love this country and
I have many friends in Thailand . I also like the culture, its history
and the food.

I've made two trips to this country I enjoyed each of them.
There is so much to see here and both times I travelled by car
with a friend, as opposed to a tour. This allowed me to visit more parts of
the country which you don`t normally see with a group.
The people were very nice and I was also invited to friend's homes.
This way I got to know the culture and its people better.

In one month I travelled from Ho Chi Minh City (Old Saigon) and went all
the way to Hanoi . I travelled by a sleeping bus, stopping at many cities
along the way. I covered over 2200 km and found every province full of
history and interesting culture. The people were very friendly and happy
to assist. The food was also very delicious and reasonably priced. Click here for a picture slide show

I split the photos in two parts. One dealing with Vietnam in general
and the other part with regards to the Vietnam War. There is so
much to see if you are interested in the Vietnam War battle zones.

I spent three weeks travelling in this country and there is so much to see
and do here. It is also full of history and I enjoyed visiting Angkor Temples.
The food was also very nice and cheap. I was saddened by the killings that
took place during the Pol Pot regime and managed to visit his house
out in the wild.

I have split the photos in two parts. Part one is of the historical sites
and its people and the second part deals with the genocide of the 1970`s.

From Hanoi I flew to Guangxhou in China , from were I caught another
flight to Shanghai where I met my daughter, Annabel. There we joined a tour
and after we toured Shanghai we travelled by bus, planes, trains and boats.
The tour took us to several big cities and as our guide was Chinese, it helped
a lot, as he could speak the language, knew the history and the cuisine of
all the locations that we visited. We were also very lucky with the weather,
as it only rained once on our trip and the sun was shinning all the time.
The people were very helpful and I also enjoyed the Chinese culture and cuisine.
I hope that some time in the near future I will visit the country again.
